Mount Ibituruna…

The large looming mountain you can see from almost anywhere in the city of Valadares, but most locals haven’t visited. I guess I can’t blame them since the drive up is a bit hairy and it is a chore in itself to find someone willing to drive you to the top. Once at the top, the view is stunning and unlike the US, you pretty much have run of the place. No fences, no rails, just completely free to go and do whatever you want, even para-glide or get a drink at the bar (which worried me a little, alcohol + no railings + intoxicated people), or pray to the extremely large religious statue (and local tv/radio station).
